Research Study Opprotunities

Introduction

There are many colleges and universities across the country that are doing research studies, including Western!

One this page we will post research studies for participants to take part of that we have been told about.

In order for a study to be on this list, it must be IRB approved and center LGBTQ+ people. We prefer sharing opportunities where students are compensated for their time.

Posted 9/29/25: Minority Stress in LGBTQ+ Young Adults

My name is Rhianna Eleck and I am a Master’s student in the University of Oregon Online Master’s in Psychology program(and a Western Washington local!). I am recruiting participants for my Capstone research project, which seeks to understand the experiences of LGBTQ young adults with mental health therapy and minority stress. I am reaching out because of LGBTQ+ Western’s work with young adults in the LGBTQ community.

About the study:

I am recruiting young adults aged 18-25 who are part of the LGBTQ community and have attended therapy within the past six months. Participants will complete an anonymous online survey asking questions related to their experiences with therapy and minority stress. The ultimate goal of this research is to establish baseline knowledge on the efficacy of therapy interventions for LGBTQ emerging adults. I hope to use this knowledge for further research on development of improved therapy methods catered towards reducing symptoms of minority stress among members of the LGBTQ community.

I am happy to answer additional questions regarding my research design, survey questions, and how we will protect participants’ privacy and confidentiality. I have attached my recruitment flyer to this email, which you are free to read and disseminate with individuals who you think might be eligible for this research.
