What Can We Do Now? Making Sense of the Moment

Description
Feeling overwhelmed by the rapid changes and rhetoric coming from the federal government? You’re not alone. Many students—especially immigrants, transgender and gender-expansive individuals, BIPOC students, and people who care about community well-being and are invested in ADEI programs—are facing uncertainty and stress. While we don’t have all the answers, we do have tools, facts, and support to help you navigate this time.
Join The Centers for Student Access, Community, and Intercultural Engagement for a discussion on:
- Recent federal actions and how they impact different communities
- Campus and community resources available to support you
- How to show up for each other across identities and experiences
- Practical ways to manage stress and take care of yourself
This is a space to get informed, find support, and connect with others who care. You don’t have to go through this alone!
Participants in each session include:
Amy Salinas Westmoreland, Office of Multicultural Student Services
Ayanna Phillips or JoeHahn, LGBTQ+ Western
Brandon Joseph, Office of Student Resilience
Katy Potts, University Police
Every session is open to all Western students. We anticipate there will be some overlap in the content of each conversation, while also addressing events as they unfold and each audience's questions. For disability accommodations, please contact The Centers, thecenters@wwu.edu; advance notice is appreciated and sometimes necessary to arrange for some accessibility needs.
